Grapevine Animal Services is searching for a new Animal Services Officer to join our team.
This is a challenging and rewarding career that both protects and serves the public. An Animal Services Officer enforces City of Grapevine animal control ordinances and state laws for the control, care and protection of domestic and wild animals within City limits. A typical day may include phone calls, electronic communication and paperwork, taking in surrendered animals, facilitating animal adoptions, and responding to wildlife and/or domestic animal calls. The position also includes maintaining records and files on animal bites, citizen complaints, adoptions, investigations, and administrative matters. An Animal Services Officer will also attend offsite events like adoption events, festivals, and educational offerings. Employees may provide tours of the shelter and adoption center, visit schools and students.
Animal Services Officers also help in the day-to-day feeding and overall care of animals, as well as monitoring their health and reporting any signs of illness or injury. They also maintain and clean kennels, cages, outdoor run areas, grooming, and other rooms used at the shelter.
Applicants must be able to remain calm in stressful situations, and be able to resolve issues quickly and efficiently using sound judgment. Employees should possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be able to follow directives, and communicate courteously with other people to maintain a friendly and pleasant demeanor at all times.
