  2. Special Needs Program Series - "Section 504"

    This free workshop will provide an overview of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Participants will learn that schools have an obligation to prevent discrimination based on disability, to provide equal opportunity to all students, and to provide FAPE (Free Appropriate Public Education) to each qualified student with a disability. The definition of disability will be explained and the identification process for the 504 Plan will be explored.

    Join us for a special joint Saturday for Happy to Help AND Habitat Builders! Volunteers of all ages and abilities are invited to participate in various projects that benefit the environment and improve the appearance of our community. Projects may include painting, planting, removal of invasive plants and litter pickup. We will plant native trees and wildflowers, monitor plant growth, document wildlife, and remove invasive plants. We have rewarding jobs for little hands and big muscles too! All training and tools are provided.
