Presented by the Grapevine Police Department and the Grapevine Citizen's Police Academy Alumni in Grapevine, Texas from April 23-25, 2018. This seminar is restricted to Law Enforcement only and credentials will be verified in advance. 24 hours of TCOLE credit will be given to attendees.

Program Description:

These seminars are intensive programs based upon Vernon J. Geberth’s personal experience as a New York City Homicide Commander, author, lecturer and consultant in death investigations, extensive research of written materials in the field, and personal interviews and associations with experts in the sphere of forensic science and criminal investigation. The course of instruction will cover the entire sequence of events which occur in a homicide. The program will then focus on practical tactics, procedures, and forensic techniques which can be employed in sound, efficient and professional homicide investigation.


At the conclusion of the seminar, participants will have acquired a greater understanding of their role as homicide investigators and should be able to:

 - Follow logical steps in the management of a homicide investigation

 - Adequately document a case for future reference or court appearance

 - Identify the various types of wounds and injuries which can result in homicide

 - Be familiar with homicide cases of a sexual nature

 - Recognize the value of psychological profiling in the solving of homicide cases

Practical Homicide Investigation® will feature Vernon J. Geberth.  The $500 fee includes the textbook Practical Homicide Investigation: Tactics, Procedures and Forensic Techniques Fifth Edition and the Newly Revised P.H.I. Checklist & Field Guide Second Edition for each attendee.

This three day seminar will be held at the Embassy Suites Dallas - DFW Airport North Outdoor World at 2401 Bass Pro Drive, Grapevine, TX.   The seminar hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. 

This all-suite DFW Airport hotel is two miles from the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and close to Highways 635, 114 and 121.  Embassy Suites is adjacent to dozens of fine restaurants, entertainment venues, and shopping.  Free shuttle service from/to DFW Airport is available via Embassy Suites shuttle.
