What is 3D printing?
3D printing is the process of making a 3D object from a digital file. You can create your own creations through software such as 123Design (featured below) or use objects created by other people from websites such as Thingiverse.

You can also use our 3D Scanning software to digitize real life objects. 3D scanning is a unique way to create replicas of objects you own and have them 3D printed.

The following links below are some resources you can use in order to learn more about 3D printing.

  • Fusion 360 and Tinkercad
    • This CAD software is simple and accessible for anybody interested in making objects for 3D printing. The software allows you to 3D model objects and export them for print.
  • Cura
    • This is the software used by our 3D printer. Cura is called a "slicing software" - it takes a 3D model and creates the slices needed for a 3D printer. If you are interested in taking orders, you can use the software to get price estimates and better understand the size of your print.
  • Thingiverse
    • One of the most popular websites in 3D printing, Thingiverse has free models that people can take and 3D print. Their selection is diverse and includes everything from practical tools, toys, and unique sculptures.
